Tickford Racing driver Zak Best will make his solo Supercars debut this weekend with the support of 4WD & Vehicle Accessories Retailer Opposite Lock, which will take the position of naming rights partner on his No. 78 Ford Mustang for this weekend’s Darwin Triple Crown. Best, who races for Tickford in the Dunlop Super2 Series, is entered at Darwin and Tailem Bend as a wildcard, racing a fifth Ford Mustang in the Tickford Racing stable.

A leading 4WD & Vehicle Accessories chain, Opposite Lock is part of the Bapcor family, which has been a partner of Tickford Racing since 2021 through the Autobarn and Chicane Tools brands. Opposite Lock featured as the naming rights partner of James Courtney’s Mustang in Sydney and Tasmania at the start of the 2022 season, and has returned to the team in support of Best, a rising star on the Supercars development ladder.

Opposite Lock National manager Rob Stella is thrilled to have the brand back on board with Tickford and in support of its impressive young development driver.

“After an exciting start to the 2022 season, we are delighted to continue our partnership with Tickford Racing by supporting Zak Best this weekend in Darwin,” Stella said. “We have an excellent relationship with Tickford and thoroughly enjoyed kicking off the year in support of James Courtney, and having the opportunity to support Zak in his first Supercars start is a tremendous opportunity. Zak is an up and coming star of the future in Supercars, and to align ourselves with this very special moment in his career is an exciting proposition, we can’t wait to see the Opposite Lock Mustang on track again and are wishing Zak all the best as he and the team hit the Top End.”

At just 20 years old, Best is in his second season with Tickford Racing, having finished the 2021 Super2 season second in the championship and impressing as a co-driver in the Bathurst 1000 with Jack Le Brocq. Best also started off his 2022 Super2 campaign with a bang, taking the round win at the season-opening Sydney SuperNight, and is delighted to have the support of Opposite Lock as he makes his solo debut in Australia’s premier motorsport category.

“I can’t wait to hit the track in Darwin this weekend, and having the support of Opposite Lock for my first solo Supercars round is really, really exciting,” Best said. “Obviously they’ve partnered with the team earlier in the season and I actually bumped into some of their team at Sydney, so to have it come full circle and have Opposite Lock on my car as a naming rights partner is very cool. The car looks sick and I feel pretty good, so I’m looking forward to having some fun up in Darwin and hopefully bringing back some really solid results.”

Best will hit the track in the No. 78 Opposite Lock Ford Mustang this weekend at the Darwin Triple Crown, June 17-19 at Hidden Valley Raceway.

Ends.
