Road conditions
A mixture of clay topped and sand dune tracks, this is suitable for 4WDs only. Travellers need to be prepared for remote travel with all fuel, water, food and spare vehicle parts. It is recommended to travel in convoy and the lead vehicle should make periodic calls on the UHF radio to advise oncoming traffic of your position.

Diesel, leaded and unleaded is only available at Mount Dare Hotel, between Alice Springs and Birdsville.

Permits required
A Desert parks Pass is required for the Witjira National Park and Simpson Desert Conservation Park. A camping permit is required from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to camp along the QAA Line.
